All imagery created using Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator. This first set of images began with a blank digital canvas. I love using texture to create movement, and seeing how a piece evolves when you layer different textures or create new textures by manipulating every day objects. These were pieces that are or were at one time active in the Ambler Art Group art line.
For example, the texture in Awash with Spring and Awash with Summer series came from the swirling rust and chipping paint patterns of an old metal dumpster. In contrast, the series Daybreak, High Noon, and Twilight series was created by using only pre-existing Photoshop brushes and layering the color in to create the swirl of color and light. The Fruited series (Peared, Appled, etc.) were created by hand drawing vector images in Illustrator. Several series feature a combination of techniques.
Inspired by 18th and 19th century antique engravings, which have outlived their copyright, these pieces were digitally altered in Photoshop for any number of changes. Some feature the original hand coloring done when the engravings were originally pressed to paper and most were removed from their antique paper background and edited for color consistency to create a fresh, cohesive set of images.
